A Need So Beautiful

A Need So Beautiful
by
Suzanne Young

Wow.

This was a BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING story!

Told in such a way, it played as movie in my head. Let me be very honest here . . it also made me cry.

So, that I don't give anything away here . . I'm going to use the overview from Barnes and Noble:

We all want to be remembered. Charlotte's destiny is to be forgotten.

Charlotte's best friend thinks Charlotte might be psychic. Her boyfriend thinks she's cheating on him. But Charlotte knows what's really wrong: She is one of the Forgotten, a kind of angel on earth who feels the Need—a powerful, uncontrollable draw to help someone, usually a stranger.

But Charlotte never wanted this responsibility. What she wants is to help her best friend, whose life is spiraling out of control. She wants to lie in her boyfriend's arms forever. But as the Need grows stronger, it begins to take a dangerous toll on Charlotte. And who she was, is, and will become—her mark on this earth, her very existence—is in jeopardy of disappearing completely.

Charlotte will be forced to choose: Should she embrace her fate as a Forgotten, a fate that promises to rip her from the lives of those she loves forever? Or is she willing to fight against her destiny—no matter how dark the consequences?

If you have been looking for a book to grab your heartstrings this is the one . . be warned, a box of tissues near by would be a wise thing.

Die For Me

Die For Me
by
Amy Plum

I had seen this book popping up in ads here and there. When I finally took a moment to check into it, I saw it was considered YA. Having daughters that fall into that category I thought to myself, why not. Once I got it, I kept putting it on the back burner . . I'll get to it eventually, I have ADULT books I want to read first.

Yesterday, I decided to go ahead and pick it up to start reading it.

I just wanna say this . . I was very surprised. Why, you may ask . . well, because I was NOT a happy camper when the book ended. I had come to enjoy each of the characters in this book.

Kat and her sister Georgia find themselves living in Paris with their grandparents after the death of their parents in a car accident. Each dealing with this in her own way, Georgia throws herself back in to the "happening" scene. Kat pulls into herself, going to museums and reading books.

Then she meets Vincent, and life is never going to be the same again.

Vincent and his "kindred" are about change everything Kat thought she knew about life.

If you are looking for a great read . . grab this book.
However, please be warned . . it will leave you wanting more. When the end comes, you will not be ready to let go of the new family you just fell in love with.

Clockworks and Corsets

Clockworks and Corsets
by
Regina Riley

Hmm . . what can I say about this book.

Hehe, first! As always, shall we take a moment to check out the cover?

Beautiful, huh!

Now, for the story.

Either this one took some time to grab my attention . . or I was taking my time enjoying it because it was going to end way to soon, I'm not actually sure which.

What I am sure of, is this: Excited am I that there is a book to follow. Pistols and Pistons

Everything was included in this short read. There was humor, sex, romance, drama, and mystery. (Psst, there is a sexy cabin boy . . I mean cabin man.)

Take a ride with women of the Merry Widow and join them for an adventure. One that will end rather quickly, but promises to pick up again in Pistols and Pistons.

Under Wraps

Under Wraps
by
Hannah Jayne

If you have read any of my blog postings, it should be very clear that I am a cover art person.

This cover has caused a bit of a stir among readers.

So, without giving too much of the story away. I'll tell you how I feel about this book now that I have finished it.

It was a slow start for me, because as it has been stated by others . . the cover and story don't match 100%. So, that in itself threw me for a loop. However, once I got past the first few chapters . . I was hooked. At one point I was laughing so hard, my 3 yr old told me to quiet down. I myself, never felt like I had the book figured out . . so it kept me on my toes, kept me guessing as to what was going to happen next.

This book had it all from the twist and turns of what's next, to the vampires, trolls, and many other underworld creatures, to the bits of romance, to the comedy. It was overall a very enjoyable read.

I will be looking forward to the next book, due out 11-1-11.

Defying Pack Law

Defying Pack Law
by
Eve Langlais

Normally . . I'm a vampire girl. Sure, you can toss in a Werewolf from time to time and all is well. I do not generally go out and seek a book that is written about just Werewolves.

Things may have just changed.

This book was packed with heat!

I think that the overview of this book, pulled from Barnes and Nobles says it all . .

Dana fled her pack and their laws to live on her terms, but the price of defiance was her happiness.

Pack law states Lycan females must be shared by two or more males, but young and in love, Dana flees rather than be forced into a ménage. Her life on the run, constantly on guard, has no room for happiness. When her past catches up and brings her back to the home she fled, she finds herself reevaluating her beliefs. To her surprise, she discovers her body and inner wolf want to claim three males.

Could it be that now older and wiser, she can accept the Lycan polyamorous way of life? Or will jealousy and fear send her running again?

Warning: Reading this book may find you panting for three werewolves of your own. Please talk to your doctor before attempting the foursome scene portrayed in this book as it may result in numerous orgasms.

So, if that warning label there didn't scare ya off. Grab your copy and settle in, you're gonna like this!

Hybrid Misfit

Hybrid Misfit
by
Eve Langlais

Truth or Dare?

Truth.

Why did you purchase Hybrid Misfit?

Answer: TRUTH . . . because I liked the title.

So, when someone asks . . "What is in a name?", the answer maybe very well be . . a whole hell of a lot!

Oh, and once again . . just look at the cover!!! For as "cool" as it looks . . it's really super HOT!

Now, with the truth being out there . . that I wanted this book based on the title and the cover art . . one may ask, did you enjoy it?

Umm, is the sky blue?
Do children talk back?

Heck yes I enjoyed it.

Mixing DNA is never a good idea, just ask this Hybrid Misfit whose very existence will change the world.

I lost my humanity in a government experiment, and now find myself hunted because of it. Demons, vampires and even angels—everyone wants a piece of me. I say bring it on and prepare to die, because I intend to fight for my right to live.

A chance meeting with a giant shifter and his best friend--an actual genie with a bottle--has evened the odds just as a prophecy involving me increases the danger. But, this Hybrid Misfit isn’t about to give up, and with my lovers supporting me, I will change the world—and discover that two naked men in bed is better than one.

Warning: Hot threesome story with all the focus on the woman.
-Pulled from GoodReads.

This is one book that found me wishing it hadn't ended. The characters were a joy to read. Maybe the future can hold a book or two to let us know how Beth and her boy toys are doing . . as well as her BFF's.

With all the storms popping up here and there, this would be a great snuggle on the couch during a thunderstorm read.

An Everlasting Bite

An Everlasting Bite
by
Stacey Kennedy

Well, Ms. Kennedy did it again! While reading this book I found myself once again on that rollercoaster of emotions.

Wiped a few tears, laughed out loud, and even caught my self grinning bigger than anything.

Life has never been easy for Rynn. Her parents picked drugs over being adults and caring for the child they brought into the world. Going to live with her grandfather, at least Rynn got to see what love was like. Then things took a turn for the worse and her grandfather got sick. Working any job she could, Rynn found herself working hard to not only provide what little roof she could over her own head, but also to pay for the cost of having her grandfather in a home where people could care for him.

It was the walk home from one of those many jobs that turned her life upside down and turned it inside out. Rynn finds herself having been attacked by a wolf and left for dead.

Enter Briggs (ok, everyone sigh . . Awww).

Grab your copy and join Briggs and Rynn as they come to terms with all that has happened. As Briggs and Rynn have recently been mated. Briggs being the right hand of Valor has been called to attended to some urgent matters. Rynn is by his side the whole time, learning more about the life she was thrust into . . and about herself as a whole.

You will enjoy this read so much, I honestly can not recommend this book enough.

I loved it!

Oubliette

Oubliette
by
Megg Jensen

Honestly, I do not even know how to begin this . . .

To say I was excited about the release of this book would be a complete understatement.

Release day! Oh Happy Day!

Book is loaded and ready to go . . I find myself, taking in every word and just letting it linger in my mind a moment before moving on to the next. It isn't long tho . . before the book lets me know it has other ideas for my reading pleasure. It grabs hold of me and just RUNS! I tried to slow myself down reading it, but I just couldn't.

Just when I was thinking to myself, I got this! I have things sorted and figured out . . . yeah, I didn't. There was even a part (with the aid of my cat) that scared me!

I lifted up my eyes and in front of me shimmered a man, a tall, gaunt man with long black hair with a quill in his other hand. I let go of the book as it rotated around so that I was reading it upside down and he began to write.
(Now insert cat jumping on bed right beside you as a man is "shimmered" right in front of you!)

Reychel has some learning to do . . and not really a whole lot of time to do it in. Right from the start Reychel seems to be the only person in her life that she can trust. She finds out for sure that looks can be deceiving and that not everyone presents as they should.

I can only say . . that when the book ended . . I was wondering if I could even trust the author. I mean REALLY!?!? Did she just do this to me? I was reading along, and then it was like . . STOP! No, more. Here I was trying to figure out just who we could trust to help us out . . . and the book ended. I went back and forth through the pages, thinking for sure I had missed something somewhere . . but nope, it really did just end on me. So, now I must wait until Fall 2011 to see how this all sorts out!

(It's gonna be a long summer, huh)

So, please if you haven't already . . . grab yourself a copy of Anathema and Oubliette, then get comfy and read. See for yourself how these books will work into your mind and not let go.

Unlocked

Unlocked
by
Courtney Milan

What a great novella!

Overview from Barnes and Noble:

A perpetual wallflower destined for spinsterhood, Lady Elaine Warren is resigned to her position in society. So when Evan Carlton, the powerful, popular Earl of Westfeld, singles her out upon his return to England, she knows what it means. Her former tormenter is up to his old tricks, and she's his intended victim. This time, though, the earl is going to discover that wallflowers can fight back.

Evan has come to regret his cruel, callow past. At first, he only wants to make up for past wrongs. But when Elaine throws his initial apology in his face, he finds himself wanting more. And this time, what torments him might be love...

I believe that says it all! This is a super read, one that is perfect for a trip to the park with the kids, or maybe a relaxing soak in the tub. Once you start it, you aren't going to want to put it down.

The Vampire Journals

The Vampire Journals
by
Morgan Rice

I took the last week to read the four books that are out.

Turned
Loved
Betrayed
Destined

The books reminded me of a combo pack. The Twilight Books meet The Da Vinci Code, and add a dash of time travel. Full of vampire action and mystery, with a wonderful list of characters to fall in love with, and to hate!

Grab book 1 and give it a whirl! You will then find yourself grabbing the others to have on hand. I enjoyed this series, and will now patiently await for book #5.

Last Minion Standing

Last Minion Standing
by
Eve Langlais

This was another book that was on my WISH LIST and then the TO BE READ LIST all at the same time.

I picked it up the other day, and found myself wishing it were longer. The story was perfect. It honestly had the right amount of everything.

I love the fact that Sally just goes along to the beat of her own drum. It's even cool that she has a BFF who seems happy enough to follow her along.

Sally working on the top side, to bring in those that escape from below . . makes a comment, I need a Minion (sidekick)! You know, Batman had Robin kind of thing. Then it hits her, I need a name for myself too. Insert tornado of events and you find yourself in the mist of an underworld reality show. Name that super hero and become her minion.

Sally gets a call to bring in a really bad dude, but someone else below has other plans. In comes Drake! Now, his mission . . to bring in the bad guy too. His side mission, well . . if Sally were to get hurt (killed) in the process, that wouldn't be all bad. However, Drake didn't count on one thing when he took the mission. He never counted on being hit by a truck with . . . what are those things . . oh yeah, FEELINGS!

Drakes new mission, find a way to make her trust me. Find a way to make her . . Love Me!

Can he do it?

You will just have to pick up the book and read it!

Whatnots And Doodads

Whatnots and Doodads
by
Stacey Kennedy

Since this book first came out, I will admit . . . I lusted after it just because the cover is AMAZING!
Then I finally got my copy (thanks to the 50% off weekend over Memorial Day weekend).

I picked it up today and honestly, I was hooked before chapter one was over.

For Bryanna, being a Witch hasn't been all that great. In fact, it's been down right embarrassing. Her boyfriend, Layton had pretty much told her to stop using her magic, PERIOD. Feeling like an outcast, she takes off . . . looking for some place to belong.

Strange Hollow, a place where everyone is welcome . . and being different means nothing there. Bryanna finds herself in the hands of Zeke, a demon. In the process of showing her the town, finding new clothes, and where she will be staying . . Zeke also finds a door to her heart, maybe.

Go ahead and grab the sunscreen and park it in front of the pool with this read . . that's what I did!

If the start to your summer isn't HOT enough yet, then may I suggest that you do the following:

1. Pick up a copy of LOVE LUST by Amber Scott
2. Grab a cup of something that is ICY cold
3. Sit near a fan
4. Begin reading

By the time you finish with this book, you will no longer think summer isn't hot enough, you will be glad for a cold drink and fan. Heck, you may even want to have smoke when you are finished reading this one.

I honestly do not want to give anything away on this story.

It was a fun, sexy read.

You won't be disappointed.

The Vampire, The Witch, and the Werewolf

The Vampire, The Witch, and the Werewolf
by
Louisa Bacio

Over the memorial weekend I took part in a blog tour for our Troops. For four days different authors would post and bit on their blogs that had to do with saying THANKS to our Troops. At the same time, each comment left was a free book for that person commenting and good for a free ebook to be sent to Troops that have requested books. So, see EVERYONE was a winner!

When I saw the title of this book, I knew I had to have it. I was very happy when it hit my inbox. I downloaded it right away and sideloaded it to my Nook.

I picked it up last night and began to read it, sexual tension . . . from the drop of the flag and lasted until the last lap. However, please don't think it's all about sex, because it isn't. There is a wonderful story being told as well.

Lily grew up in foster homes. Never really feeling like she belonged anywhere. Over the last little bit, she started feeling even more like an outsider. Strange things have been happening, and she is on the search to find someone . . anyone who can help her. It's this search that leads her to Law and Trev. Law, short for Lawrence, is a vampire . . his lover Trev, short for Trevor, is a werewolf.

Fighting nightmares from hell, getting ready to turn 30, and not understanding why things are the way they are . . . Lily finds herself living with two guys who from the start seem to fill a void she has had for all her life.

Through the twists and turns of this story Lily finds her way . . . and so much more in the end.

This was a great read, honestly . . something perfect to lay by the pool with this summer. So grab and copy and enjoy!

Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games
Catching Fire
Mockingjay
by
Suzanne Collins

After I got my Nook for Christmas, I kept seeing these book titles show up. I wasn't one of the first to jump on the Twilight Band Wagon, and thought to myself . . here we go again.

I Was Wrong.

There I said it. It's in print, posted to the world wide web . . I can't take it back. Even if I could . . I wouldn't.

I LOVED these books. After getting the push to read them ASAP by my really close friend (PGW), I rolled my eyes and jumped in. It wasn't long before I was kicking myself in the backside for having waited so long. In fact, I even called my mom and said . . You have to read these!!!

Katniss Everdeen carries this series for me. She has the weight of the world on her shoulders and she is only 16 years old. Feeling the pull to do what is right after the loss of her father, and the absence of her mother (mental shut down) . . Katniss seems to be the one taking care of business for her family. Trying to put food on the table, protect her sister, pull her mother out of her funk, and still taking care of herself . . Katniss finds herself in the one place she doesn't want to be . . . The Hunger Games.

One can't help but fall in love with cast of charcters in this series. From Gale to Prim and even Peeta the twists and turns keep you guessing until the end.

Grab yourself the series (don't just buy one book at a time, you won't want to wait between the end of one and the start of another) and settle in for the read of a lifetime. This series will be one that stay with you for the rest of your life. You will find yourself thinking about it and realizing it was a while back that you even read the books. I will be keeping these to read again, the story is just AWESOME.

A Warrior's Witch

A Warrior's Witch
by
Stacey Kennedy

I read this book a little over a week ago. Now it's had a little time to sink in. We first get to know Talon and Zia while reading The Magical Sword Series (The Willow, The Wicked, The Devil's Kiss, and The First and Last).

Stepping into An Otherworld Romance, we are given a different view on them. Instead of being supporting roles, they are the main roles and this was a little hard for me to get use to. Once I did tho, the book was great! You get the chance to see them work together and grow. They seem to be fighting their deepest desires . . maybe even have buried some things . . just to do what was considered "right" because of the positions they hold.

A call comes in that they must investigate and even tho the call hits very close to home for Talon, it's the sorting through the clues and fighting side by side that opens doors and maybe even hearts.

Another job well done by Ms. Kennedy!

Bleeder

Bleeder
by
LK Rigel

Wow!

First I'm gonna say this . . I am very much a "judge a book by it cover" person. I know it's wrong, I know I should change it . . but I can't. When I see a beautiful cover it makes me think what the story behind will tell.

The cover to this book is just beautiful! In fact I am loving the "firebird" and thinking that would be an awesome next tattoo.

This story picks up a little later down the line from where Space Junque and Spiderwork left off. The pages turn to reveal new twists and turns. Leaving the reader sometimes wondering what the heck just happened. Never fear, everything seems to have a reason/purpose . . even if you don't see it right away. Mallory shows you in great detail her life events right up to the end. Step into her shoes and get to know her friends and family, and the story that tells their tale.

This series was a wonderful surprise for me, and one I'm so glad I picked up to read. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy for yourself, you won't be disappointed.
