Burden of Blood

Burden of Blood
Wenona Hulsey

Sometimes when I am reading a book, I will take notes along the way to help when I am writing a review. This book started out with a simple page of basic information. It soon became a mess of scratched notes here and there for all the part I was falling in love with.

Ms. Hulsey has written a wonderful story here, very well balanced that I enjoyed reading immensely.

Start with her short read: Blood Awakening, it gives you the set up. Then dive right into Burden of Blood. You will find yourself hanging on every word! (At least I did)

Ms. Hulsey creates wonderful images with her words. You find yourself standing side by side with the characters. Smelling the smoke, or feeling the wind in your hair. You will hold your breath at times, and laugh out loud at other times. You will find yourself holding you breaking heart, wondering if it will ever be the same.

This is one read I am glad I didn't put at the bottom of the to be read list.

Some of my favorite quotes:

"What the hell is wrong with you girl? You're drooling over him like a fat kid in a candy store." - Nicole

"Wonderful, first two pushy warriors shadow me everywhere. Now I've got Tinkerbell shoving me around." - Nicole

"Damn it, that's twice tonight you've caused me to glow like a lightening bug." - Nicole

Now that you see a few things there are to love about this book, go pick up your copy.

I am going to be honest here.

I was catching up on the current Facebook status updates one night when I came across one that caught my attention. It said something like, "For the first 5 people to post comment to this status I'll give an ecopy of my book Splitsville.com."

The cover was cute, and the title was catchy I jumped on it saying I'll take a piece of that. Not having a single what the book was even about.

Well, I have now read this book . . . and it was GREAT!!!

Olivia (Liv) has a problem, well . . . sorta! See, she can read auras. Which make multiple human contacts a headache for her. After being asked to break up with a guy for a friend, she comes up with a way to work, and limit her contact with people.

Wanna dump someone, but don't want to handle it yourself? Just log onto Splitsville.com, fill out the form, make a payment and wait for your confirmation email. "Jenn" will make her call, doing the dumping for you, not giving up until she gets confirmation from the person being dumped that they know that's what just happened, and the you get an email telling you it's done.
Easy as pie . . . right?
Not when your clients start coming up DEAD!
Now Olivia has to find away to keep her company from being pulled into the murder investigations. If people find out she is Splitsville.com there goes her job and maybe even her life. (You kinda piss off a few people every now and again when you have dump them for other people.)

With the help of Aunt Matilda and her friends Olivia starts trying to put things together to clear her name. Can she do it in time and keep her company/identity a secret?

A fun read, that you won't want to put down.

Now that I know what it's about . . I absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a good read with lots of laughs.

Megg Jensen

Exactly how does one write a review for a book that has them in the corner of their room, rocking back and forth, sucking their thumb . . uncertain of everything they have ever known? (ok, everything they though they knew/understood about the book they were reading)

Let me say this:

I got this book yesterday and I began reading it last night. By the end of chapter one I was seriously HOOKED! This isn't a good thing to have happen on a night when one should be going to bed early due to a road trip scheduled to begin at 6am. Fighting it as I did, I placed the Nook on the shelf and laid my head down. The ride home had me thinking about this story, wishing I could read and drive at the same time. I even thought about stopping for a bite to eat just so I could read, however I pressed on and found my way home. It was on the way to dinner with someone else driving that I got to pick it back up and read some more. I'm sure my husband thought all my mumbling under my breath, sighs, gasps, were all related to his driving somehow, but they weren't . . it all had to do with this book. Even the points where I laughed out loud. It's the twists and turns of this story that will leave you BREATHLESS! I wouldn't even suggest trying to figure things out, because just as you think you have it . . HAHAHA, you don't! (You will hear Megg Jensen saying, "psych").

My favorite quote from this story has to be one from the beginning of the story . . . "I feel asleep afraid. I woke up with hatred in my heart." It wasn't this statement alone that had me . . but it was like the beginning of the end . . sorta, lol!

I would recommend this book to EVERYONE!

Grab a copy and settle in for an AWESOME ride! One you won't be forgetting anytime soon!

Thank you Megg Jensen for writing this story, I can not wait to see how this plays out.

Darkness reigns supreme in this haunting tale of love and desperation, Of Witches and Warlocks, The Dark Rising. - Overview from Goodreads

Today is RELEASE day!!!!

Before I could flip on the light, Vance suddenly grabbed me from behind, turning me to face him so he could kiss me again. I wrapped my arms around him and he pushed me backward, never breaking his kiss with me while he moved in the general direction of the door. My back hit the wall when we reached it, but he didn’t stop kissing me. His hands were everywhere, in my hair, on my face, down my body, around my waist.
I disconcertedly searched for the door behind me.
"I love you," he said to me in the darkness just as my hand found the knob, and I noticed his eyes were glowing again.
"I love you too," I replied, twisting the handle. The door popped open with abruptness and we fell though the opening together onto the kitchen floor.
I started laughing and he followed suit.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his body strewn out across the top of me.
"Yes," I replied in a fit of giggles. "Are you?"
"I’m feeling pretty good right about now," he said with his sexy grin smiling back at me.
Someone in the room cleared their throat. We both glanced up to find my dad standing over us with an amused look.
"It’s nice to see things are getting back to normal around here," he said. "Surely though, there are better places than the kitchen floor."
I must've blushed twelve shades of red and Vance quickly hopped off of me, unable to keep the laughter from spilling out of him. He reached a hand out, pulling me up behind him.
"I would say I’m sorry about that," Vance said, turning to my dad. "But I’m not." He pulled me up against him and kissed me lightly one more time before he reached out to smooth some of my tangled hair.
My dad smiled at us. "As weird as this may sound, I wasn’t unhappy to see it," he replied with a knowing look.

This is a GREAT reminder that I seriously need to get on the ball and get to reading. So, lets all run together to pick up the newest installment and get to reading!!!

But Abigail has secrets, and as Jacob is pulled into her strange world, he learns those secrets could cost him his family, his girlfriend, and even his soul. - From Goodreads

So, how did I come to have this book . . . hmm, ya know I believe I saw one day it was on sale for .99 at BN.com (thanks to Misty over at The Top Shelf) and thought to myself . . Why not? It didn't sound like my typical choice of book, but I didn't think it would hurt to have it . . you never know when something may grab your attention.

Well, a posting comes up . . asking if anyone would like to be consider for ARC of the book to follow. It was with this request that people were just saying how great of a book it was. So, I signed up for consideration and figured I needed to read the first one while I wait to see if I am picked.

I am SOOO glad that I bought this book and that I finally decided to read it!

No, it's not my typical story of choice . . but as I am finding out rather quickly, not all great stories have a vampire in them! (Duh) This was not a book to be rushed through, this was a book to sit back and enjoy. There is a lot to read and understand . . but not too much that you are left thinking . . WHAT?

I suggest picking up a copy today and step into the town of Paris . . and get to know Jacob.

Without Mercy

Without Mercy
Belinda Boring

Darcy and Jasmine were only suppose to run into town for a quick stop and come right back. Mason, the pack Alpha and future mate of Darcy, had "fought" with Darcy about this very topic. He didn't want them out without back up, but he gave in and allowed them to go . . Now, Darcy is wishing she hadn't fought for this freedom. Staring down the barrel of a gun and no possible way to call for back up, Darcy tries to pull together a plan. . .

You won't want to miss how this story plays out. Be prepared to feel a handful of emotions come rushing at you while you read this short tale of Pride loyalty.

I for one will patiently await for more from this up and coming author.

Ok, so I never wait patiently for anything . - My Goodreads Review (5 Stars)

This is just the beginning for this talented writer, and I for one am glad to be able to watch her grow and blossom. Right now you can purchase Without Mercy through Smashwords.

Go . . Hurry . .
Now, grab your copy!!!
I would suggest you could put a do not disturb sign on the bathroom door and take a me moment with a soak in the tub . . but eReaders and water don't mix (unless you slip that baby into a zip lock baggie, which I have done before).

I'm sure you will enjoy this read just as much as I did.

Dating Cupid

Dating Cupid
Eve Langlais

(insert drool towel here)

Yep, another drool worthy cover.

This was a fun read.

Roxanne knows where she’d like to shove Cupid’s arrow.

Tired of cheating men and false promises of love, Roxanne launches a campaign against Cupid’s Dating Service. But it’s hard to smear a company when you’ve got the hots for the owner.

Maverick Eros is more than the CEO of CDS, he’s Cupid himself. However, forget the media images of a chubby diapered cherub because the god of love is actually six feet plus of yummy, muscled male.

When they meet, sparks fly--the lusty kind--but they both know from experience, love hurts. In the end though, they’ll learn that love will have its way with them with or without the aid of Cupid’s arrow. - Overview from Barnes and Noble

If you find yourself sitting at the pool side, looking for something to read. This is perfect.
Not to long, not to short . . and offers everything one wishes for in a story.

Ok . . it's that time again!!!

It's cover time! Let us take a moment to take in all the beauty this cover has to offer. . . . Great, huh! I knew you would like it as much I do.

Now to the story!

For me, this was another WOW story. There are a few things for us to be all hot and bothered about in this read.

1. Ethan
2. Javier

Naomi raised in a home full of male wolves has seen her fill of violence. Now as an adult she wished for nothing more than a violence-free way of life. Having moved from the family home into her own place, she is proud of the nice things she has been able to work hard to provide and wants nothing more than to keep them nice. Hoping to find a nice "human" she has sworn off ever falling for or mating with a shifter.

Ethan is the shy type, not at all sure of himself. In the back of his mind knows he would love to discover his mate and settle down.

Javier is anything but shy, and tends to lean towards the cocky side of things. In the back of his mind, sees himself living the life of a playboy.

Now, insert fate! Oh, what a twisted mind fate has.

Naomi finds herself trying to fight fate. Little does she know, fate never gives up.

Go ahead and give this book a whirl . . you know you wanna!
